Donald Sauls
Donald Sauls, raised up in the Adamsville section of Goldsboro, was one of seven children. He graduated in 1952 from Goldsboro High School. From 1955 until 1957, during the Korean War, he served in the U. S. Army. A natural born salesman, his career has included employment with Heilig-Myers Furniture Company of which he served as a branch manager, Belk-Tyler Dept. Store, and in 1965, he became associated with the Best & Sauls Men's Clothing Store in Goldsboro where he remained until his retirement as a clothier came in 1997.
As a meaningful opportunity to share his love and concern for others, he became employed by Tyndall Funeral Home in July of 1997 where he assists the funeral directors with their duties on a day-to-day basis.
A member of the First Christian Church of Goldsboro (Disciples of Christ) since 1946, he is an Elder of the Church and is active in the Sunday School program. He is a past Sunday School teacher and has been chairman of both the worship and membership task forces. He is involved in the home-bound visitation and communion program as well.
Married to the former Joyce Evans, they have a son, Derek, and they continue to make Goldsboro their home. A daughter, Starlette, died from cancer in 1997 at the age of 28.
In his spare time, Donald enjoys billiards, working in his yard, or just simply the chance to sit and chat with his many friends.
