Obituary for Darwin Evans

Coy Darwin Evans, native of Magnolia and long-time resident of Mount Olive, passed away quietly early Friday morning, July 7, at his home. He was 84 years old.
Along with a brother, John, he had owned and operated Evans of Mount Olive, Inc., a used car dealership, for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive and had a long tenure of service as Sunday school secretary. For the Baptist mens fellowship, he could always be counted on to have the coffee ready when the rest arrived.
His life will be remembered in a service to be held on Sunday, July 9, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive. Dr. Dennis Atwood will officiate. Interment will follow at Devotional Gardens at Warsaw. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Life Center at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 239, Mount Olive NC 28365.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Dorothea Draughon Evans, of the home; two sons, Rickie Evans and wife, Lisa, of Wilmington, and Ronnie Evans of Dudley; two daughters, Patricia E. Rhew and husband, Robert, of Fuquay-Varina, and Tammy E. Vail and husband, Tom, of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a long-time business associate, William Quinn, who was more like a son than an employee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Evans and Bertha Batts Evans, and brothers, Stacey, Eldred, Wells, Ed, Wendell, Harold, and John Evans.

A Tyndall Service.
