Obituary for Dorothy Coker Lane

Dorothy Coker Lane, 85, resident of the Indian Springs community, passed into the presence of the Lord early Wednesday morning, November 6, 2019 at Goldsboro Assisted Living Center. Her passing gave cause for her to "find" her beloved husband, John Monroe Lane, once again.

She will be remembered as being a lady with excellent seamstress skills and had been employed with Ethel's Shoppe in Mount Olive, Southern Furniture and Interiors, and lastly at the Southern Belle Restaurant. She was a long-time member of Wayne's Chapel Church.

The family will receive friends at Wayne's Chapel Church of God of Prophecy on Friday, November 8, beginning at 6 p.m. with services to follow at 7 p.m. Pastor Ralph Parker will officiate. Burial will be Saturday, November 9, at 10 a.m. in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Monroe; an infant daughter, Jennifer Ann Lane; twin grandsons, Jason Lane and Jay Lane; her parents, John Coker and Etta Waller Coker Hill; sisters, Julia C. Murvin and Angeline C. Barwick; and brothers, David, Ralph, Gordon, and Jackie Coker.

She is survived by a son, John Monroe Lane Jr. and wife, Wanda, of Seven Springs; a daughter, Betty Jean Lane of Mount Olive; a brother, Willie Coker of Dudley; grandchildren, Crystal Smith and husband, Paul, Kayla Lane, Amber Lambert, Vincent Best and wife, Pam, Anthony Best and wife, Star Barwick, Timothy Best and wife, Heather, and Roy Wallace; great-grandchildren, Jordan Bryce Best, Dakota Best, Justin Barwick, Brittany Marie Lane, Austin Steele Lane, Savannah Worrell,and Hunter Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
