Obituary for Edith Anderson Outlaw

Edith Anderson Outlaw, 85, widow of the Rev. Loran M. Outlaw, passed away Sunday night, Nov. 3, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, led by the Rev. Terry Heath and the Rev. Dave Fischman, and followed by visitation. Burial will be Thursday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive. At other times, friends and family may call at the home of Brenda and Gerald Smith.

Mrs. Outlaw is survived by two daughters, Brenda O. Smith and husband, Gerald, of Deep Run, and Linda O. Davis and husband, Jeff, of Seven Springs; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Watts Outlaw of Mount Olive, widow of deceased son, Carl Ray Outlaw, Sr.; four brothers, Charles Anderson of Dudley, Clarence Anderson of Mount Olive, Bobby Anderson of Raleigh, and Glenn Anderson of Mount Olive; grandchildren and spouses, Carl Ray Outlaw, Jr. and Jocelyn Outlaw, Kenneth and Rhonda Outlaw, Pam and Jerry Biggs, Beverly and Lloyd Pope, and Buddy and Christen Cherry; step-grandchildren, Michelle and Bryce Verhaeghe, Michael Smith, and Melanie and Raymond Gaskins; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her son and husband, Mrs.Outlaw was preceded in death by her mother, Mittie Newcomb Anderson; father, William N. Anderson; step-mother, Mittie Strickland Anderson; sister, Annie A. Ferrell; and brothers, Leon, Carl, Lester, Thomas, and Ralph Anderson.

Mrs. Outlaw, a charter member of Cricket Ridge Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, had worked in area sewing factories including Young Squire and Mount Olive Sportswear. She had been a long time resident of the Mount Olive area before relocating to Deep Run several years ago.
