Obituary for John Thomas Tucker

John Thomas Tucker, a long distance truckdriver, began his earthly journey on May 6, 1935. His life’s journey of 84 years took him to many places as he traveled on the open road, hauling pickles and various commodities, first for Chas. F. Cates & Sons of Faison, followed by a 38 year tenure with Mt. Olive Pickle Company. He was a member of Indian Springs Original Free Will Baptist Church and had served on the deacon board.

Enjoying the journey of life with him were these loved ones he leaves behind: his wife, Joyce Hall Tucker, of the home; a daughter, Vera Ann Griggs of the home; a son, Jonathan “Buddy” Worrell and wife, Shirley, of Goldsboro; a sister, Peggy Rose Eason of Mount Olive; several grandchildren including two of the home, Aylissha “Sugar Pig” Amerson and Giante “Man” Amerson; several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Now that his last earthly mile has been traveled and in the early morning of Thursday, September 19, 2019, the engine to his vehicle went from idle to a complete stop, he has now been welcomed on the other side by his very best friend, Dallas Byrd; a sister, Sadie Sinagra; and his parents, Henry Tucker and Minnie Gautier Tucker.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 22, beginning at 1 p.m. with funeral services following at 2 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Bob Fussell will officiate. Services will commence with interment being in Mount Olive’s Maplewood Cemetery.

Flowers are welcome, or for those who prefer, contributions for dementia and Alzheimer’s may be made to the funeral home for their placement with said causes.

A Tyndall Service.
