Kenneth Lee "Shad" Cherry, 66 year-old resident of the Garner's Chapel area, Mount Olive, passed away early Friday morning, December 20, at Wayne Hospital.

His life will be remembered in a service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Guy and the Rev. Paul Rose will officiate. He will be interred in the Whitfield Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home during the hour before the service.

He now joins his beloved wife, Joyce Whitfield Cherry, his parents, Woodrow and Sally Louise Brock Cherry, an infant brother, Durwood Gene Cherry, and his wife's parents, James and Callie Mae Vernon Whitfield, in eternal peace.

Surviving him are his three daughters, Michelle Lynn Edwards and husband, George, of Dudley, Amanda Kay Harris and husband, Matt, of Shelby, and Donna Sue Cherry of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Faith Harris, Andrew Harris, and Michael Wayne Edwards; a sister, Dorothy C.
