Mrs. Rose Mae Anderson Byrd left this life to spend eternity with Jesus. God's angels came for her Tuesday, January 8, 2018 while she was at home in Hope Mills. She was exactly one month shy of being 90 years of age.

Mrs. Byrd was a beloved school teacher, having loved students in numerous school systems. Married to the Rev. Albert DeWitt "A.D." Byrd, Jr., a United Methodist minister, they lived in various locales as their church appointments did dictate. She excelled at being a minister's wife and a loving mother.

She is survived by a daughter, RoseMary Byrd Stalter and husband, Clifford, of Flat Rock, NC; two sons, Albert DeWitt Byrd III and Tim E. Byrd, both of Hope Mills; a brother, David Barker Anderson of Fla.; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Douglas L. Byrd of Raleigh; a sister-in-law, Jackie S. Byrd of Alpharetta, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Rufus King Anderson and Martha Hattie Smith Anderson; a sister, Helen Raper and husband, Carlton; and brothers, Robert Anderson and wife, Doris, and Clifford Anderson.

The Byrd family will receive friends on Saturday, January 12, from 9 until 10 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, followed by a worship service of remembrance at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive (corner of North Church and East James Streets). Officiating will be the Rev. Marti Hatch and the Rev. Douglas L. Byrd. Interment will be in Calypso Cemetery. Flowers are welcome, or if memorial donations are preferred, the family suggests one's local hospice organization, or bestow an act of kindness by doing a kind deed for an elderly person in one's community.
