Obituary for Sankie Glenn Stallings

Sankie Jean Glenn Stallings, 74, Mount Olive resident, passed away Monday evening, May 20, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Olive. Officiating will be the Rev. Anderson Barnes assisted by her son, Pastor Barry “Bubba” Stallings. A time of visitation and sharing of memories with the family will follow the service. At other times, the family will be at the Stallings residence in Mount Olive. Committal services will be Friday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, followed by burial alongside her beloved parents, the late Jamerson S. "Jim" and Daisy Cleaton Glenn.

She had been employed with the Mount Olive Tribune as an advertising representative until health issues forced early retirement. She had been a former director of the Boys and Girls Club of Mount Olive, once housed in the “Jim Glenn Youth Center,” named by the town in honor of her father. A former cheerleading coach, she enjoyed painting and creating ceramics, was obsessed with kitty cats, and thrived on Pepsi Cola. All who knew Sankie will remember her vivacious personality, how she was "carried away" with talk and laughter, and even her goofiness. Truly she was a bright spot in the lives of many.

She had been a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive, and in recent years, had become a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church at Pikeville.

Sankie is survived by her two boys and a daughter-in-law, Jay Stallings of Mount Olive, and the Rev. Barry “Bubba” and Olivia Fountain Stallings of Fremont; two granddaughters, Karen Stallings and her fiancé, Austin Terrell, and Katie Stallings. Also surviving her is Bud Stallings of Smithfield, her former husband and the father of their sons, who remained a life-long friend.

The Stallings family wishes to acknowledge Karen Lawhorn of Dudley for her companionship and caregiving duties shared with Ms. Stallings. Also, a sincere thanks is expressed to the seventh floor staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital for their phenomenal care and attention expressed to her during her recent hospitalization.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

A Tyndall service.
