Obituary for Thomas Carroll Davis

Thomas Carroll Davis, known as Tom to many, passed away Sunday evening, November 3, in an automobile accident. He was 45.

A life long resident of Mount Olive, he had been employed with the Town of Mount Olive in its water department, and was employed as an electrician with Doug Kornegay Service Co. at the time of his passing. An avid Boston Red Sox and Carolina TarHeels fan, he had coached many area youngsters in Dixie Youth, Junior League, and Tee-ball.

Tom is survived by his wife, Melinda Erickson Davis of the home; three children, Brittany Smith and husband, Trevor, of Mount Olive, and Christopher Thomas Davis and Timothy Matthew Davis, both of the home; his daddy, Michael Davis and fiancee, Terry Padgett of Mount Olive; his grandmother and adoptive mother, Evelyn T. Davis of Mount Olive; three brothers, Mitchell Davis and wife, Sherry, and Malcolm "Bo" Davis and wife, Paula, all of Mount Olive, and Mickey Davis and wife, Karen, of Cairo, Ga.; a half-sister, Jessica Humphrey Wagner of Myrtle Beach, SC; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much including Jamie Davis and wife, Gracie, and Christen D. Cherry and husband, Buddy; a special aunt, Coleen D. Best of Mount Olive; and his mother-in-law, Donna Erickson of Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather and adoptive father, Leo C. Davis; his step-father, Glynn Mason; and a brother-in-law, Michael Erickson.

The Davis family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 8, from 7 until 9 p.m., and at other times at the Evelyn Davis residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Ronnie Wise, with burial following in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive.
