Obituary for James Benjamin "Bud" Swinson

James Benjamin "Bud" Swinson, Seven Springs area resident and United States Army veteran, went to his heavenly home Thursday night, July 5, 2018 while at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Duplin County on August 6, 1949, he was one of nine children born to the late James Ulysses Swinson and Bertha Elizabeth Brock Swinson.

Bud was most recently employed as a registered nurse with Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by seven siblings and spouses, Leamon and Kaye Swinson, Bobby Shelton "Ham" and Jo Anne Swinson, Thomas "Tom" Swinson, Evelyn S. "Sis" and Gordon Malpass, Velma S. and J. B. Price, Peggy S. King, and Faye S. Taylor, and one nephew.

He is survived by a sister, Betty S. Webber and husband, Clayton, of Seven Springs, and spouses of deceased siblings, Elmer "Buddy" Taylor, David King, and Elizabeth "Lib" Swinson; beloved step-children, Tammy Stafford Kuipers and Wade Stafford, and their families, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he adored, and who loved their "Uncle Bud."

The life of Mr. Bud Swinson will be remembered in a service to be held Monday, July 9, at 6:00 p.m. from the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Mount Olive. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Dail and the Rev. Mickey Whitfield. A time of visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro NC 27534, a place that was close to Bud's heart and from which he received exceptional care in his final days just as he had rendered to many others during his tenure of compassionate service there.

A Tyndall Service.
